... and I am forever changed!
I headed out to the mighty Crest Theater tonight to take in the spectacle that is Trash Film Orgy's "Monster from Bikini Beach," a locally made, shot on video b-movie extraordinaire. I definitely did not expect the line up to wrap completely around the block, with all kinds of schlock fans eager for some go-go dancing, foam-suit-monsters and on-screen carnage - clearly there is a hungry, and very supportive, indie film community alive & well in Sactown!
The surprises continued when the eager audience FILLED the large auditorium at the theater - if memory serves, that's over 600 people!! Impressive.
Around 10:45, the film kicked off, and within the first minute we had go-go dancing, monster, blood & breasts - talk about your killer intro! (ba-dum-dum) It's a helluva fun movie - absolutely b-movie madness through and through, with laughable dialogue, hammy acting and special effects that any true DV aficionado will love.
The audience laughed, clapped, groaned and added commentary, and every single person got their $5.50's worth.
Well done Sacramento. Might be time for me to make another film myself.
